Description: De Luchtclub (" English: The Air Club" ) is an initiative of the City of Rotterdam. By allowing Rotterdammers to measure PM2,5 themselves, the municipality and residents gain more insight into local air quality which can be a basis for further discussion, workshops and insights. With this project teh regional environmental agency is also investigating whether cheaper sensors are as reliable as more expensive equipment.

Location: Rumia, Poland
Description: Rumia municipality purchased five devices for continuous, automatic measurement of PM10, PM2.5 and PM1 dust concentrations. Thanks to this, a municipal air quality monitoring network was created, and the obtained results are publicly available on an interactive map. The goal is to allow any interested parties (mainly citizens) to follow the current air quality in the city and to raise awareness in this regard.

Description: What is the quality of the air we breathe in Brussels? In order to answer this question, we conducted a collaborative science campaign for 12 months, from October 2020 to October 2021, to measure nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentrations throughout Brussels. This is the first time in Europe that such a project has been carried out over such a long period.

Description: Citizen observatory Meet Mee Mechelen aims to gather and share data on air quality and urban noise and improve the dialogue between citizens and decision makers on the local living environment, specifically on air quality and noise. This Citizen Observatory was set up with the help of the Ground Truth 2.0 project. The Ground Truth 2.0 project received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under grant agreement No.689744 and finished in 2019.

Description: Samen Meten is an infrastructure for data and knowledge sharing for citizen scientists interested in air quality. We provide a platform where citizens can find their own data and the data of others. In addition, the data can be analysed via the 'Analyse together tool'. Description: The COMPAIR innovation project is designed to bolster citizens' capacity to monitor, understand, and change their environmental impact, both at a behavioural and policy level. It unlocks the power of the wider public, including people from lower-socio economic groups, to provide broad granular data around a central theme of air quality, complementing and improving the quality of official datasets and making new information useful for helping to meet environmental aims.

Cyclists use the sensor and app; they build up knowledge of their routes and can choose the healthiest commute. This data is stored in the cloud, which makes data analysis possible for researchers and governmental agencies. The Snifferbike is interesting on various levels: it acts as a source of knowledge for participants and on a macroscale for governing bodies and research agencies.
